The division template system is one of the key mechanics of Hearts of Iron IV. A division is 1 basic unit depicted on the map during gameplay. The composition of each division is specified by its division template. Division templates can be created and modified by the player using spending army experience. The composition of your division can make or break a battle. You can manually choose which divisions you consider to be elite, normal or backup.
Elite divisions will be prioritized for better equipment, followed by regular divisions and finally reserves.
An example would be elite divisions only using the latest weapons and reserve divisions using the oldest. These are the stats for the 7 Infantry — 2 Artilery division from above. Max Speed: The base maximum speed a unit can go, this value is usually lower due to terrain and infrastructure modifiers, however certain things increase this such as engineers.
HP hitpoints : How much damage your unit can take during combat. Infantry and variants have a lot of this because they are many, while armor has very little.
Organization: This is very important. It is important to keep it in the back of your head, but not make it dictate your unit composition. Provided primarily by infantry and motorized or mechanized. Recovery Rate: How fast your units will regain organization. Recovery is as important as organization. However, since most units that provide recovery also provide organization, these values usually balance each other out.
Weight: How many convoys it takes to ship your unit. Only important for countries that have to ship their units by sea. Very closely related to Supply Use, but then without any actual meaning. Supply Use: How much supply use your units use press F4 in game to see the supply lineswhich directly translates to how many units you can have in any given province.
As a general rule: Infantry uses very little supply, tanks use a lot of supply, Logistics Company support company is indispensible. Reliability: Affected only by the Maintenance Battalion, Reliability is a modifier to the base reliability of a vehicle such as the effect of a tank designer. This applies to vehicles only. Loss: Trickleback is how many casualties are returned to your manpower pool and exp. They only change with the use of a Field Hospital battalion.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. How to check mmr on op gg

The problem currently for me is: I don't know how to reliably use and build tanks. Now, the question is: what's a reliable infantry template solid defence and offence at leastreliable tank template and how and when to build them, how many factories to use, in general for every nation like Germany or USSRand maybe other useful templates I don't know about.
I am really bad at template or assigning factories in general, so any help I would appreciate. Showing 1 - 9 of 9 comments. Build 10 armies of 20 width infantry divisions with the engineer company support. These 10 armies can cover and defend all of your borders. For my tank template, I usually make a light one and a heavy one. The light one is a 20 width of motorised and light tanks with an engineer company, an army of these can outmatch any enemy army up until or so.
Just make sure to keep upgrading your light tanks. The heavy one is another 20 width of mechanized and heavy tanks, I never use medium tanks because the heavies can plow through any templates the AI make, plus they massacre forts and thus are good for offensives.
So basically, you'll have a bunch of decent infantry armies holding the front and you can micromanage your light and heavy tank armies along the frontline to launch offensives.
Mp answer? Mass assault is the worst doctrine 2. Do 40 widths 3. Tanks are worth, not as much in sp as mp 4. Mechanized not cost efficient 5. Don't put at in your infantry, lol 6.
Mediums are the meta. Originally posted by BloddyK :. Single player? Build 20 width infantry with Engineers, if you want a little push back, stick some support artillery in with them. Nothing will budge them.
The trick is to wait until the other army has bled themselves dead, out of men, equipment, organization, and then march to their capital.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. Store Page.

Then go for heavy tanks. Typically you want a division template that give a mix of tanks and motorized infantry where you get a combat width of 20 or any multiple of Just experiment. Try getting more tanks than motorized infantry to maximize their power. I personally go for meduim tanksi find the first light tanks arent very good and the heavies to much hassle to build.
Light tanks are faster than medium tanks, which are faster than heavy tanks. When making an armor division, don't mix the three if speed is important. Light tank I is basically an armored machine gun. Coupled with motorized infantry the light tank division is the fastest combat unit available, packs a sustained punch. An infantry division with a couple heavy tank battalions can punch a hole in the front lines for the light tank division to charge through.
A heavy tank division with foot infantry can do wonders too. If you can't build the heavy tank, the SPAT units can give you the hard attack, but lack the high armor. The medium tank doesn't have the speed of the light tank, or hard attack and armor of the heavy tank, but when coupled with mechanized infantry and SPA will win more than it loses.Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts.

The earliest effective light tank template I think is 5 light tank, 5 horse cavalry. While you sacrifice a lot of top speed they are still faster than foot infantry while requiring few or no trucks. This allows you to focus production on light tanks and build enough of them to create several divisions very early. You can swap templates later on once you have plenty of trucks. A side beneift of this template is that it has low resource and production costs.
With lots of trucks available 5 light tank, 5 motorized infatnry is better. Bear in mind that you will need quite a bit of oil and rubber for them and you start with not enough of either and no easy access to them in quantity. You will also need excess production to cover significant battle and attrition lossses.Mauro eberspacher
Another option is to double the size of a few early divisions to use as volunteers if you prefer to delay going to war yourself.
For 40 width divisions you could go with 10 light tank, 10 horse cavalry or 10 light tank and 10 motorized infantry. These maximize the punch you can deliver with a limited number of allowed divisions to send as volunteers. If you are playing some other country with low production or you want to improve your existing early infantry then you can try 1 light tank, 9 horse cavalry or 1 light tank, 9 foot infantry.
These are supported infantry divisions, not full tank divisions. In the very early game infantry have terrible piercing so even a slight amount of armor provides enough to get the significant combat bonus.
This advantage will go away fairly soon and you will need to switch to medium or heavy tanks if you want to maintain getting the bonus at least some of the time.
You will not always get the bonus but when you do it will make a large difference. For support units engineers and recon provide good bonuses with low production investment.
